i am a distance (60-100miles) rider who rides a racing bike and puts in several hundred miles a week. i have the PI cycling pants that have the 3D elite chamois (for PI chamois comparison, see here: shop.pearlizumi.com/cms/uploads/chamoisgrid and type .pdf at the end of that), which i've generally been happy with which is why i looked to the pearl izumi skirt. i was hoping to replace my old, bulky off-brand shorts with something cute and feminine that would have a better chamois like my pants do. sadly, this was not it. i am 5'8" and 105lbs, and ordered the XS. where to start...

+ chamois: the chamois is quite bulky and the sides pinch in rather delicate locations. after ~ 30 miles (short for me) i couldn't wait to get out of these shorts!

+ shorts: the shorts are mesh, which i really hate. you could never wear these shorts alone. not only this, they're too big and don't stay put, promoting the aforementioned movement/pinching by the chamois. and why oh why does PI always put HUGE tags in everything with a little dotted line like "cut me out here"? surely they must know that they little bits of tag that are left irritate the skin. i am amazed that they put these ridiculous tags in their items right where they will irritate the skin, but that the skirt, which doesn't touch the skin, has a nicely printed label on the waistband and no tag.

+skirt: the skirt is cute-ish. one thing i hate about it is that it has two full side slits. i was under the impression it just had one. this means that when you're riding, the front flap gets caught under you so it feels like you're wearing some kind of loincloth. i'm constantly pulling it out from under me and brushing it to the side. also, the skirt runs large (about 3" larger than the shorts) and so it's a bit baggy and doesn't stretch. the waistband might be nice, except they put 1" elastic in a ~3" waistband, so it's always getting rolled over itself. all in all, it's much too big and seems like it's one size fits all, even though it's printed as an XS.

i kept the item because i wore it. if i could return it i probably would. i do sometimes put the skirt over my terrible bulky cycling shorts (which are better than the PI mesh ones) and it does look cute when i'm off the bike, so for that it gets 2 stars.
