I was rebuilding a Schwinn Caliente 10 Speed with 24" wheels for my niece. I found out the hard way that THESE are the proper tires for the Schwinn 24" rims. Back in the day, Schwinn had this mucked up marketing practice of selling oddly sized replacement parts so that you would HAVE to go back to the Schwinn dealer to get replacement parts. The Schwinn Caliente wheels were victims of that marketing strategy.

BE CAREFUL! There are some tires here on Amazon marked as 24 x 1 3/8" (37-540) S5 tires. THOSE TIRES DO NOT FIT ON A 24" SCHWINN WHEEL!!

THESE are the tires you need. They are 24 x 1 1/4" (37-547) S6 tires. Notice the difference in the second number in parenthesis. That second number is the number of millimeters for the diameter of the tire opening. I learned "the hard way" and donated the S5 tires I had bought to a local bike shop to use in helping restore an old bicycle for disadvantaged youth (way better than paying the price of the two S5 tires in shipping costs to send them back, too).

As for quality, these tires are top notch and fit perfectly on the Schwinn rims.

I hope this is helpful to other backyard bicycle mechanics who are attempting to resurrect older Schwinn bicycles.

BTW ... my niece LOVES the finished bicycle that has been restored to riding status.
