Product Description
The Nashbar Carbon Mountain Bike Fork is great for urban mountain bikes with dead suspension forks, or if you're looking to shed some weight. The 385mm axle-to-crown height is just right for bikes that originally came with rigid forks, or forks with less than 80mm of travel IS Disc mount and dropouts are aluminum 930gNashbar Carbon Mountain Bike Fork Review
I have an older mountain bike that came with a low end suspension fork. Since I ride mostly on fairly smooth trails and bike paths, I decided to convert to a rigid fork. This fork turned out to be a superb choice. It's well built, relatively light (much lighter than the suspension fork), beautifully shaped, nice carbon weave showing through the gel coat, all in all a looker. I was concerned with the bike geometry getting altered substantially with the rigid fork, but this fork's crown is fairly tall, I didn't notice any substantial changes both in look and in riding. Fork is robust and rigid, it really transformed the bike, it now steers like a road bike with sharp response and precision. Comfort isn't compromised, road buzz to the handle bars aren't worse than the suspension fork. It takes a bit more work to hop a log but the fork seems to take reasonable impact fairly well. So, my bike lost a lot of weight, looks better, rides better, steers better, I can't be more happier with this choice. The only gripe I have is that it has both cantilever brake boss and disc brake tabs, sort of redundant, wish I could remove the tabs (I am using rim brakes now). But maybe later I would convert to disc brakes, by then I would wish I could remove the cantilever boss. :pMost of the consumer Reviews tell that the "Nashbar Carbon Mountain Bike Fork" are high quality item.
