Correction: for the distance tourer who hates flats.I hate flats. So I ride with armor: puncture resistant tubes, Mr Tuffy tube protectors, and these tires. My last tires were Continental Contacts, which are also quite good (1000 miles without a flat), but I wanted even more armor. So I traded up to these. So far, so good: 1000 + miles of very hard city and state road riding (=broken glass, nails, odd scraps that you just can't avoid) and going strong. This is not a super-light tire. But in exchange for a little more weight, you get great traction and best of class defense aginst flats. Best tire I've ridden on yet. Not just best tire for-the-money. Best tire for loaded long distance tours period.
