I like to shop local, buy local, and support local businesses all while getting the best--luckily with Arundel's steel bottle cage I am able to win at all four. Arundel is an American company based out of my former home town Panther City (Fort Worth), Texas, known for making the best carbon water bottle cages on the planet they also however produce the best steel water bottle cages. I've had one cage mounted to my retro adventure tour roadish bike for a little over 7 months bought from my formerly local bike shop (Colonel's) so far no premature ejections even while off road, no breaks, and it still sparkles like new. Admittedly the cage does cost more than some other metal cages but then again it is the best, will probably last forever, and looks classier on a steel bike than anything else all for about 25 bucks the same amount you would probably spend in a year or two replacing 2,3, or more lesser cages.

Michelin Pilot Road 3 Rear Tire - 180/55ZR-17/-- Review

I ride a BMW K1200R with about 80% twisties, 10% urban, and 10% highway.

These are dual-compound tires with a hard compound in the center for highway mileage and a softer compound on the sides for grip while the bike is leaned over. Unlike the older Bridgestones and Michelin's of yore, this tire seems to have no distinctive joint where the two compounds meet.

There are plenty of reviews of Michelin's new Road 3's but none of them are of the "blind-taste test variety". A number of reviews have tested these tires on the track with no ill effects so you will be buying tires that are at least trackday ready.

These tires have a lot of groves in them that makes them look like rain tires. Be advised if your riding a big heavy bike like mine then those groves do bend over on the leading edges and wear down on the trailing edges. This is true with any cut tire but particularly so with these; handling was not effected.

These tires are good for about 12,000 miles.

The sidewalls of these tires is soft and flexible which is good news for people who change their own tires.

Cateye Vectra Wireless Review

Just recently purchased and began using this computer. I found it pretty easy to set up and install on my bike. Being wireless is a real bonus--no wires running everywhere that need to be zip-tied to the frame. Inexpensive and does exactly what I need it to do. Downsides? If you're looking for a computer to keep track of cadence, this isn't it. Also, it will take some getting used to determing which mode I'm in since the little tiny letters that tell you which is which is, well, tiny. I need reading glasses and don't plan on wearing them when I cycle.

Sugoi Women's R + R Knee High Socks (Laguna, Small) Review

I have not used the pink ones yet but these are to replace my grey ones. I used them for 2 seasons of marathon training and they worked very well and washed well. After lots of wear and tear I had to replace the grey ones as I was starting to get a whole in the side. I'm happy that Sugoi decided to make some girly pairs. I also have another pair of compression socks from another brand and I like the Sugoi's much better. The different zones of compression seem to make this sock work better.

Sugoi Women's RSR Tight (Black, Medium) Review

I purchased these after having some great success with the Women's Piston 200 tight: I thought I would give Sugoi another try. These tights are pretty good on the whole - they're comfortable, easy to get on and off (the zips on the bottom near the ankle helps) and they run well (tested them out on shorter runs of 5 - 7km and had no problems). Some minor issues are a) the sizing - I bought a small previously and they were a tight fit, whereas the small in the RSR's is larger than expected (should have gone the XS) and b) one of the legs kept slipping down lower than the other as I was running and it feels a little strange. That could be a product of the not-quite-right sizing though.

I do like the style, and the checked patterning on the inside really does make these quite comfortable. I would recommend them, although for longer runs (10km +) the Piston 200 tight is a superior choice compared to the RSR tight.
