Profile Design Universal Gap Cap (Black) Review
Just got this today & tried to use it on a brand new Suntour fork with a cro-moly tube. I though it was a good idea since I didn't really know what stack height I wanted as I knew the bike geometry would change when I went from the old solid fork on my Specialized Hardrock which has only been riden about 10 times since new (was my spare). I thought that I'd start with the full stem then cut down as required, so it would be easy to get out when I wanted to.Well, it went in the tube slick & started to expand as advertised, but once I got to tensioning the headset it started to get looser. I tried for 2 hours to get it to tension, but it never did. What I found out was that since it's plastic(or polymer??)with no bite, it just was slowly pulling out instead of tightening. Maybe it would work on a carbon tube, but I doubt it! Talk about dangerous too! If that baby slid out while you were doing something serious it would be big trouble!
Don't even try it, 'cos it will cost more to send it back than it's worth! Junk, junk, junk!
