I have an older Ford truck with an old-style bumper that has holes for trailer balls but no receiver hitch. Trying to find a bike rack that would work for this truck was quite difficult. The Curt rack bolted right into one of the trailer ball holes and only takes about 30 seconds to remove the top part, leaving the mounting base, which is only a few inches tall, attached to the bumper.

It works great, appears to be very sturdy and the top portion is easily removable. The only criticism I have is that the provided straps are pretty flimsy. I have been supplementing them with a couple of bungie cords, but the next time I get to a camping store, a couple of 1 inch nylon straps with fastex clips will be the permenent fix.
