I bought these as a Christmas gift for a college coed. She was in school in Indiana and rode her bike in the cold. She was using some old wool gloves that were not waterproof or windproof.She reports that these Pearl iZUMi gloves are waterproof, windproof, warm, and have excellent grip on handlebars even when wet. On snowy days, she uses them as regular gloves.
I looked around the Internet, and Amazon had the best price. These gloves are highly rated at REI, where they are also much more expensive.
They are good for driving, too, at least while the car is warming up. They are also quite stylish, although that was a secondary feature.
I also looked at "Lobster Claw" gloves which are probably warmer, but my young friend is not that dedicated a cyclist. The lobster claw variety seem more "Cycling-Specific" and I wanted gloves that would be appropriate for everyday use.
