Abus Bordo 6100 90Cm Combo Black Review

I've been using this lock now for almost a year. I commute daily by bike. It's handy. It takes a brief bit to get used to it - but after a week or so you'll forget that you ever used anything different. Because the links are hinged and do not make "arbitrary" bends, you have to simply subtract a little length from the total for actual useful length. I have not found the length to be a problem, but I also do not lock both of my wheels; if you want to lock all wheels, you'll most likely need a secondary lock. I like this lock because it's sturdy - definitely tougher for a thief than any cable lock (I strongly discourage cable locks; bike thieves are using cable cutters which slice through even the thick cables like a hot knife through butter), but very compact when folded. It is NOT lite; but I consider that a plus. I have no doubt that a determined thief can get through this thing, but if there are other bikes with wimpier locks, why would they bother with this one. The very first day I used this lock, I managed to lose a little rubber piece that goes in the carrying case; emailed the Abus company, and they mailed me one for free from Germany - excellent customer service! One other thing of note: when you use this lock, you should exercise a bit of "common sense" when taking it off the bike. Because the steel links are relatively heavy, and hinged, they can swing freely with gravity. You would not want the lock to swing on its hinges and hit either your bike or, worse yet, your knee or leg. It's not anything that some reasonable caution cannot prevent from happening, provided that you pay a little attention.

We bought this bike for our 11 year old son, even though the box states from 6-11 years old. I think it would be a bit large for a 6 year old. This bike seems to be more appropriate for 9-15 year olds. The bike has a great graphic design on the middle section. It can hold 200 pounds. I think this is a great buy for a preteen and teenagers. It also had the extra bars for the ride-ons.
