Salsa 'Nick-Less Cage' Stainless Water Bottle Cage Review
Having used 3 of these now for almost a year on my Vaya I can attest to their durability in rain and shine, winter and summer, both domestically and north of the border. They hold bottles, even over pothole strewn industrial roads, railroad tracks and mile after mile of gravel grinding. They don't leave the grey/black aluminum oxide marks on your bottles, because stainless steel doesn't readily corrode or wear down like the lighter, softer aluminum. The only downside is that like all metal, if you bend it, it stays bent. Which means that if you cram an over sized bottle of sports drink or store bought water in it, it might not hold your refillable bike water bottles as well. This can be easily remedied by just squeezing it back into shape, bending it back a bit, but this is something you should be aware of. There are other designs that seem less prone to bending out of shape, but I can't personally attest to their ability to hold bottles in rough terrain. My friend uses the stainless cages by Velo Orange and they are worth checking out.Pro:
Hold bottles securely
Leave bottles cleaner than aluminum cages
Look great
Fairly light weight
Con:
Can be bent out of shape by over sized bottles
